Popovers that pop off
Sophomore Mia Schrift shares her popover recipe
Popovers are one of my family’s favorite baking traditions for fall weather. Popovers are light, puffy rolls made from an egg batter. They are very versatile and go with almost any meal. For breakfast, popovers taste great with a jam preserve or even just butter. They also go great with lunch or dinner as a side roll. Popovers always remind me of Thanksgiving time and are a great add-on to a turkey dinner. They also only take 10 minutes to prepare and are super easy to make!
Ingredients (makes 12 popovers):
- 6 eggs(lightly beaten)
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 4 Tbsp of unsalted butter(melted)
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tsp salt
- (2) 6 cup popover pan
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees
- Spray inside of cups with nonstick cooking spray
- Pour ½ tsp of melted butter into each cup
- Whisk together the eggs, milk and 2 Tbsp of melted butter in a bowl
- Add in 2 cups flour and 1 tsp of salt
- Whisk until smooth
- Evenly divide the batter into each of the cups
- Bake on 450 for 20 minutes
- Bake on 325 for 15 minutes
- Let cool for 15 minutes and enjoy!
